The Non-Interview

So sometimes people contact me for interviews without any preparation. I've decided to troll anyone that does that to me again.

Hallan Turrek > Howdy.
Z0D > morning HAllan
Z0D > Eva told me i should talk to you
Hallan Turrek > About?
Z0D > CSM
Hallan Turrek > Aha. I am indeed the person to talk to about interviews on that.
Z0D > its a first for me on that part :))
Hallan Turrek laughs
Hallan Turrek > I'll need a link to your platform.
Z0D > been more in the back of Take Care as an advisor
Z0D > a link to my platform?
Hallan Turrek nods
Hallan Turrek > What you're for, what you're against. What you plan to do.
Hallan Turrek > I don't do interviews unless you have a well defined platform posted somewhere.
Z0D > like what i stand for etc, the different points etc?
Hallan Turrek > Yes. That.
Z0D > k, will need to work on that and put it through the take care web site as well as prepare a campain thread for the Jita speak corner
Hallan Turrek > Well, lets cover some basics.
Z0D > kk
Hallan Turrek > Are reinforced bulkheads overpowered?
Hallan Turrek > If so, how would you fix them?
Z0D > well everything has been so tweaked compared to a few years via stacking and some more severely than others, but defitively it has removed the abiliuty as in the past to move ships at insane speeds to put more people whatever the ships are to a more
Z0D > similar speeds, i find and that smy opinion that like overdrive mods that a lot of those affect the stats in ways that i think don't totally rely to their initial module goal
Z0D > deftivrely by adding structure maximum velocity is reduced, but 11% in that sense should be different and more take longer to acheive the same maximum velocity rather than simply reduce the max speed
Z0D > on T2 mod for example
Hallan Turrek > I've heard alot of talk lately about the Bantam being boosted, are you in support of those changes?
Z0D > the real base stats of some of those basic ships could receivce a liltle help help new players starting a biut more when they are in their initial starting phase and in trials etc
Z0D > help help --> love...
Hallan Turrek > What do you plan to do in Iceland?
Z0D > well, that would be to help push ideas and players issues so they can actually become realities in the future, lots of things in the game are either not enough or too much or in other case simply don't make any senses
Hallan Turrek nods
Z0D > and an example on that the very CVA incident that just happened....
Z0D > how do we go as a CEO or Director go about taking 24 hours to expell a member from corp... but can instantly kick all corps out of alliance and close alliance with a single click with no votes of any kind.....
Hallan Turrek > Someone told me that they were going to give us more snowballs this Christmas, that's pretty cool right?
Z0D > hehe alwayts cool to do some cold damage :))
Z0D > i was at the last Fanfest (my first) was some great fun and met some people i did not know in game and made some new ones, was surprised at how cold it was for even just early October
Hallan Turrek nods
Z0D > Defitively want to go back through :))
Hallan Turrek > You get laid out there?
Z0D > with the beer lol! lots of it , first 3 days slept maybe 8 hours...
Z0D > was there 6 days, 3 days fanfest and 3 extra days to visit some of Iceland, felt for me when arriving like arriving on another planet literally
Hallan Turrek > Do you support the addition of beer to eve?
Z0D > well in station.. would be interesting to be able to fly around and run and do stuff while under the influence and get attributes modidied in a drunken way by it.....
Z0D > and also as items... with spiced wine and the likes, item wise...
Hallan Turrek > Are you the guy that brought down CVA?
Z0D > nope lol!
Hallan Turrek > Liar!
Hallan Turrek > How'd you do it?
Z0D > in a legal way, in long con, i would have been a good corp member, helping everyone and work the ladder until i get the right roles then with access plan asset transfer to maximise the possible gains to the max... then if in excecutor corp, kick every
Z0D > corp out then close the alliance as now, as well as kick as many players with no roles of any kind to cause the maximum damage possible
Hallan Turrek > I knew it was you!
Hallan Turrek > Why'd you do it?
Z0D > hehe i did not do it and out of many alliances out there, its the most unlikely deserving to have some like that especially in such a way done to yourself in such an easy way, its wrong the way it is now, and as a CEO myself and also head of my alliance
Z0D > i know the feeling of how easy it is to do, its way to easy to create such damage as a single person without any forced and mandatory voting system to stop it from happening
Hallan Turrek > Alright I'm gonna come clean with ya. This was a joke interview. If you'd like a real one, follow my instructions at the start of this conversation. Get a platform and contact me then. Thanks for the interest.
Z0D > np

To his credit, he took well.

An Effing Moron

I'm not going to say I did not see this coming. I accepted it as a possibility. I just thought he'd be smarter about it.

Larkonis Trassler resigned from the CSM because he was doing insider trading with his main. What in the world was he thinking? I can understand when politicians in real life get caught doing dumb things, they don't have the ability to create anonymous alts, or funnel money properly(you know, most of the time).

Would if have been so difficult to go to a trusted, but not especially close friend through out of game communication and let him/her do it for you? Then go play some EVE poker and just have 'em "lose" your share of the money to you. This is off the top of my head you FUCKING MORON. Did you somehow not think they were not watching you? Honestly? Seriously?

Still, this transcends ingame theft and moves into a betrayal of trust. Those that voted for you trusted that you'd remain in office for your entire term, which you would have done had you not been a fucking moron. CCP trusted you with knowledge and asked for your input to improve the game. You took that and turned it into cash. That is not why I voted for you.

I trusted you, you fucking moron.

I know I'm a bit late on this, I haven't really been following the whole CSM thing cause the guy I voted in got elected. I figured he could handle things well enough without me watching him. Turns out he was a fucking moron.

Blog Banter #10: Oh Reginald!?

Welcome to the tenth installment of the EVE Blog Banter, the monthly EVE Online blogging extravaganza created by CrazyKinux. The EVE Blog Banter involves an enthusiastic group of gaming bloggers, a common topic within the realm of EVE Online, and a week to post articles pertaining to the said topic. The resulting articles can either be short or quite extensive, either funny or dead serious, but are always a great fun to read! Any questions about the EVE Blog Banter should be directed here. Check out other EVE Blog Banter articles at the bottom of this post!

This month's banter leans a little, OK a lot, on the academic side. It comes to us from xiphos83 of A Misguided Adventurer, who asks the following: " Victor Davis Hanson argues that western culture, comprising of ideals such as freedom, debate, capitalism, and consensual government, are what make western society so successful at waging war. These ideologies create a warrior who's direct participation in government, ability to think freely, and desire to remain free, fights harder and is willing to suffer more than his conscripted foe. Though a military must remain a structured oligarchy to fight a war effectively, why in a world where military conflict is as familiar as breathing are there so few alliances that embrace these ideologies when governing their members?"

Victor Davis Hanson's argument is flawed. That was easy.

Aw Shit Son.

There are few things in this life that I've ever been sure of. I knew my wife wasn't coming back. I knew I'd win re-election last term, and I know now that Spectre sucks.
Ramir Jonas - Gallente Senator

You probably won't recognize the man in the picture, that's alright, not many do. That's Spectre, the Eve Newb. He's that guy that lost during the last blog banter contest. He's been on a bit of crusade recently about his really very stinging loss.

He believes he was cheated! Spectre, if you're reading this I've got a little message for you.

I'm throwing down the gauntlet, you wanna rumble? We'll rumble. You wanna pick daisies in the fields all day with the sun shining brightly in the sky and a warm breeze gently wafting... uh never mind.

Point is, I'm throwing down the gauntlet.

Bring it son.

The One Where I Start Something.

So I started a little conflict a few days into my 0.0 career.

EVE System > Channel changed to GQ-XQ Local Channel
Psychotic Turtle > lol, that aeonyx guy is a fucking loser. I have fought his alliance for a year, they are the most pathetic alliance in game with worst pvp'ers. You guys are 100 times better pvp'ers than his pathetic alliance.Coms out.
Hallan Turrek > Why hello! You seem like a nice guy, will you be my friend?
Psychotic Turtle > i was reffering to stain empire, you guys are a whoile different story on your own i will not go in to right now as to not crush your spirits, i suggest you guys keep playing and keep learning.
Hallan Turrek > Oh thank you so much, I am so new to this after all. I appreciate you holding back for me.
Hallan Turrek > I'll be honest, I could never raise hand in anger.
Psychotic Turtle > learn to.COms out.
Hallan Turrek > Oooh, that coms out thing is so cool.
Hallan Turrek > I wish I'd been able to think up something so incredibly original like that.
Hallan Turrek > /emote sighs
Hallan Turrek > I'm just stuck with the same old thing I guess.
Psychotic Turtle > stop talking or i will come back and live in your home systems for another week
Hallan Turrek > You see, that right there? That's a promise you can keep.
Hallan Turrek > All this talk of being bad, that's total BS, you can keep saying it, but saying you'll live somewhere, that's something you can actually do.
Hallan Turrek > So go on, live. If you can.
Hallan Turrek > I get the feeling you'll get bored after a while, but by all means, have fun.
Hallan Turrek > Cat got your tongue? Too bad. "Coms out,"
Hallan Turrek > No it seems pretty stupid when I say it too. Heh.

Turns out these guys have a history of camping systems and dropping covert cynos for a fleet of black ops battleships. Sounds like fun to me, but not so much for everyone else. The alliance was, unhappy to say the least.

It's all simmered down for now, but I still think the whole thing is pretty funny.

Eve Blog Banter #9: Why Won't You Die?

Welcome to the ninth installment of the EVE Blog Banter and its first contest, the monthly EVE Online blogging extravaganza created by CrazyKinux.

"Last month Ga'len asked us which game mechanic we would most like to see added to EVE. This month Keith "WebMandrill" Nielson proposes to reverse the question and ask what may be a controversial question: Which game mechanic would you most like to see removed completelyfrom EVE and why? I can see this getting quite heated so lets keep it civil eh?"

Dying is easy. It's living that's hard.
Luke Spencer

Everything in the Eve universe that can kill you can die. A Titan is scaring the crap out of you? A huge NPC spawn from a level 5? A Rifter with a warp scrambler that's holding you down for that gang that's coming for your skin? POS guns? It's all killable in Eve. That's one of the beautiful parts of eve, anything that can kill you can itself be killed.

Well almost anything. Enter the Sentry Gun:

This almost never actually happens.

So that begs the question, why? It's an exception to the rule in eve, and it's also an integral part of living in low-sec. Most high sec dwellers don't even notice or care about sentry guns, but in low-sec, they protect the gates from the predilections of pirates. As soon as a non-criminal is fired upon by anyone, they spring to life and defend truth, justice, and the CONCORD way.

Anyone that runs is a pirate. Anyone that stands still is a well disciplined pirate.

So these sentry guns begin to thoroughly kick ass. They've got huge damage potential across all damage types, and are impossible to kill. In effect, it's a built in advantage for the non-criminals of the game on gates and stations. It can be used to lull people into a false sense of security at times, and at other times it's the tipping point in a battle.

So why not take away their indestructibility? It's at least worth talking about. What would be the advantages and disadvantages?

Pro: Making them destructible would make low-sec more interesting. We're not talking about making them easily killed, at least a battleship should be required to take them down. You could clear them out before an engagement to even things up for your side. In effect it makes things more interesting because it gives you a bunch of options for engagements. On average things stay the same because it takes a special effort to take them down, but eventually they'll respawn.

Cons: Pirates would be getting a boost from this, and a fair portion of the player base don't like pirates. It might make it easier to gate camp, but gate camping happens now.

In the end ask yourself this: Why shouldn't they be killable?

Beneath this mask there is more than machinery.

Beneath this mask there is an idea, Mr. Turrek,

and ideas are bulletproof.

Oh. Totally didn't know. Sorry about that.

Please don't kill me.

Heh, No?

I got ransomed tonight. Got stuck on a roid while orbiting a battleship out in Syndicate, Ishtar warps in, scrams me, and brings me down. Then he tries his hand at a little piracy, before taking me into structure.

that guy > 35mil pay
Hallan Turrek > Yawn.
that guy > 10
that guy > 9
that guy > 8
that guy > 7
Hallan Turrek > I believe I said yawn.

He got the message that time and finished me off. I was glad to be rid of the Harpy, it's a fine ship, but damn slow at this job. I'm not sure how I intend to go forward, but a frigate sized ship is not ideal for this by a damn sight. Thinking of training for an Ishtar, but that will take a while. I'll figure something out, in the mean time:

Good Day.

Wherein I Criticize Other Bloggers #1

So, you've got a hell of a female charactor. She's smart, quick, strong, and no slouch in a fight. Only, your main charactor is male. What to do. What to do. Oh I know, lets have her get captured.

This is a common trope in fiction.
You'll see it time and time again.

It's overused and annoying really. It allows non-interesting charactor development of the male charactor at the expense of a female one. I also plays into the "females can't be equal" concept that prevails on the psyche of so many male writers.

That isn't to say that a female charactor losing a fight or not being as good as a male charactor is inherently bad writing, it's not. But if you take an otherwise competent female charactor and make her be suddenly captured so your male charactor can rescue her, you've fallen into the trap. Bonus points if you don't even describe exactly what happened. Double points if your charactor is the only one who can rescue her.

It's very tempting, but try not to.

Oh, and given that Roc's a pretty good writer, I'm going to sit back and see how he develops his story before I go making any final judgments.

Good day.

Gotcha

There's a government whip
Cracked across your back
Where the order of the day
Is don't listen, attack
See the blood run down
In your bushwhacked town
Revolution is the gimmick
Of a jokerless clown
Another volley's just the ammo
For the taxman's gun
Flogging Molly - Requiem for a Dying Song

Yeah right.
Figured I'd hit you guys with an April Fools a bit early. I'm never going back!

These Are the Jokes Kids #1

So a Gallente Politician, Caldari CEO and an Amarr Bishop were walking through a jungle out on Rens V. Suddenly they're captured by some Minmatar.

The Minmatar take them to their chief, who walks up to them and says "Alright, here's the deal. You guys get a choice, Death or Ugu,"

The three guys look at a each other, then the chief. The Chief walks up to the Gallente fellow and says, "You're first,"

The Gallente Politician says "I have no idea what Ugu is, but it must be better than death, I choose Ugu,"

Suddenly seven burly guys come out and forcibly have sex with him until he cannot even move. When they're done they throw him into the bushes.

The Chief walks up to the Caldari CEO, and waits for a response.

"Well, that looked pretty painful, but I'm a rich man and I'll enjoy the rest of my life. I choose Ugu as well,"

Well the same thing happens, and they throw him into the bushes when they're done. Finally, the Chief walks up to the Amarrian Bishop and waits for a response.

"You know," Says the Bishop, "I don't think god could forgive me if you guys did that to me. I choose death,"

The Chief nods and leans forward, "Alright, death it is. But first, Ugu,"
